Naziha Arebi

Arebi is a British Libyan filmmaker who made her feature film debut with Freedom Fields (2018), which was screened at many international festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival. The film was shot over five years and follows the journey of three female soccer players as they aim to compete in international football. It attempts to navigate life after the end of Gaddafi’s reign and the spiral into civil war, from the perspective of young Libyan women.

In 2020 she will be releasing a new documentary, which she produced, called After a Revolution (dir Giovanni Buccomino); a film shot over four years that follows the relationship of a brother and sister who were on opposing sides of the revolution.
