Maryam Salama has been called “a leading light in in the new generation of Libyan female writers” (Marozzi 2015). A poet, her works focus on the experience of women in Libyan society. She also has a moving short story, “Door to Door,” that has been included in Translating Libya: Chasing the Libyan Short Story, from Mizda to Benghazi
